Theology is the study of God. There are many facets and aspects of God that I cannot see. You may see them. Let me know if you do. Doctrine is what someone believes and holds to be true. Though there are differences among Christians that create denominations, anyone who is a true Christian will hold to these following truths. We [Christians] do not, all of us, believe things without reason. The Bible is our reason for belief. This is the basis, so I will start there.

The Bible:

The Bible is 99.99% to 100% correct. It is without contradiction or error. If you think you know one, please, tell me and I'll show you how they are congruent, but only if you are willing to listen. The Bible is shown to be correct through and through in the many aspects of it. But, not only is it correct, but it is God's very words written to humans. The first way this is proved is by its construction. The Bible was written over a period of 1600 years by over 40 authors in 3 different languages and on 3 continents. These are fact. Yet, look behind them. Ask yourself, "is there anything else like this that was ever created?" The answer is no. The Bible in its original form is unlike any other book to have ever existed. 2 people have trouble agreeing on something as simple as how something should look, but over 40 people have agreed on the basic teaching of the Bible. This basic teaching summed up in one word, redemption. Not only did over 40 authors agree, but also they did such over an incredible period of time. Over 1600 years and yet the theme is consistent throughout. Not only is time an issue, but also, the number of languages. Is there any other book in history that was written in three languages and still agreed throughout? No. But even beyond that, there is another thing; 3 different continents. Different continents means different cultures and rules and many other things, yet the Bible is still congruous throughout. Amazing, isn't it. But this is only a quarter.

The second way of proving that the Bible is God's word is its unity. I mentioned this above a bit. But here, let us go in depth a bit. The Bible has a consistent theme, redemption, as I have already stated. But beyond that, there is a consistent symbolism. Symbols mean the same thing throughout. The lamb is representative of Jesus. The snake or serpent represents Satan. The number 7 means completeness or wholeness. These are just a few. But the symbols are consistent throughout. But what good is all this if it contradicts itself. It's not worth a pile of rubbish. But in the Bible, there are no contradictions. No where does it say one thing and in another place say something else that goes against the first. Many have supposedly been found, but easily overturned. The word of God is right and true, and proves itself to be so. But the greatest proof is next.

The third way that the Bible is proved to be the very Word of God is by prophecy. There is so much to cover, but I'll stick to two that are simply amazing. The first is the prophecy of the city of Tyre. This prophecy is so accurate that it was debated for a long time that the prophecy was written after its destruction, but that was before they found evidence. What was prophesied is this: that the city of Tyre would be conquered by king Nebuchadnezzar, that it would be demolished and all of its walls and battlements would be thrown into the sea and it would be a place where fishermen would cast their nets and also, the city of Tyre would never be rebuilt. What happened in history is exactly that. The people of Tyre fled to an island nearby and so the army of king Nebuchadnezzar tore down the city and built a land bridge out to the island and eventually all that was prophesied came to pass. But don't take my word for it. Read Ezekiel 26 and check out the history of the city of Tyre. You will find that fisherman still cast their nets to this day.

The second prophecy proof is that of Jesus. He did everything the Bible says He did. I'll get into that accuracy later, but Jesus fulfilled every prophesy that needed to be fulfilled to prove that He was and is God, and then some. A mathematician was asked to calculate the probability of the fulfillment of 8 of the 60 or so clear prophesies of the Messiah. He came back with a number that was astounding. The number is 1 in 10 to the 17th power. This doesn't mean much, so I'll use an illustration. Imagine whatever room you're in filled 2 feet deep with silver dollars. Now imagine one red one in amongst them. Now imagine a person with a blindfold reaching down and picking up that red one on the first try. That's no where near the number this is. The area that would be covered is Texas. The state of Texas buried not two feet, but three feet deep in silver dollars. Now take that person with the blindfold on and have them pick it up first try. Those are the odds of one man fulfilling only 8 of 60 definite prophecies. But it really happened.

The fourth and final way discussed here of proving that the Bible is God's Word is the fact that salvation changes lives. It changed my life and at least 55% of Americans lives according to a recent study (1999). People who become true Christians have dramatic life changes, all for the better. Drunkards become sober, addicts become normal, diseases have disappeared. The effects are astounding. But those are the obvious ones. The ones we don't see are the most significant. The newly discovered confidence, the peaceful heart, the joy found in life, the desire to help those in need. Those things that take place on the inside, in the heart are more profound and amazing than curing an addiction or healing a cancer patient. They are such because they change lives themselves. A smile or a kind word will change someone's day.

All these are evidences that alone may be denied, but when you put everything together, you see that the Bible is God's Word to us. It is impossible for us to reach Him, so He reached down to us through His love letters to us, the Bible. What is contained in there is really all you ever need to know to get to heaven. The Bible is true through and through. It is without error. It is God's love letters to us. Acronym: B-I-B-L-E: Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth. It is food to the spirit and wisdom for the flesh. It is God's will for our lives. These facts are deniable, yes, but why would anyone deny truth?
From here we now go deeper. We will now go into the very existence of God because we now have the solid base from which to start. Logic can be used as well as many other things, but the only true and unshakeable foundation is the Bible. Now that we have hopefully confirmed its truth clearly, let us go into what it says about God and who He is.
