The Shirt

I once was a clean shirt,
Clean without spot or stain,
The envy of all other shirts.
Now I am filthy,
Covered with mud,
Rejected from the closet
And into the hamper.
Soon I will be clean again,
Maybe not envied again,
But none the worse for the wear.

There once was a calico cat,
