Revisiting, reviving, dissolving

Long ago the doors were slammed shut
Locked, bolted, barred.
The building was condemned;
Uninhabitable, hazardous and haunted
I went back inside once.
I became dark, doomed, deranged
I came back out into the light,
            The freedom.
Now I will conquer.

Though I tread lightly on these past dreams,
My aim and goal are like a fist
My drive: relentless.

I wade though the air
Down the haunted gray hall
Floor
            Inches deep of broken glass.
My feet are bare
I do not bleed
I pay no mind
My mind is spent, enthralled
With the dark corner at the end.
The doors I do not enter pass as a child grows
            Relentless, unnoticeable,
As I creep and skulk
            To my prize
            To my doom
            To end the mystery
I wonder if the answer will be terrible.
